28 September 2006.

I took a day off from a very hectic schedule as a speculative homebuilder to attend my first class at Keller Williams.  Within a week, and after the start of a series of very demanding foundational classes I knew that I would be quite happy spending the rest of my working life with Keller Williams.

I had my Real Estate Broker's license before that, but used this primarily to enhance my pursuits as a builder and investor.   In all I have been licensed since February of 2005.  I like to point out, though, that almost every dollar that I have earned as an adult has had something to do with the buying and selling of real estate.

The Previous Ten or Twelve Years.

I worked as a home builder.

Sometimes called a "construction generalist", I bought and rebuilt homes; rebuilt other peoples homes and businesses; bought rebuilt and kept a few properties; worked with my then-Realtor wife in these endeavors; and raised a family.

I was a licensed general contractor, I studied architecture at RPI, and I have experience with almost every building trade.  My understand of your house extends from the soil beneath the footings, to the roof and any apparatus that you might ever place there.

My commitment to our environment

My experience in building gives you a decided advantage if you are interested in finding a green home.  Location.  Orientation.  Construction type.  Upstream and Downstream efficiency and conservation.  Convertibility.  "Hybridization".  Since my first building technologies class in the autumn of 1984 I have been studying and working to employ environmentally sustainable practices in the built world.

As a Realtor I can assist you in identifying those properties with the greatest potential for conversion, plus I can help you cut through the marketing nonsense that exists.

In my youth

During my early twenties I was a stand-up comedian.  Not only was this terrific fun, but I supported myself doing odd bits of construction (I had studied architecture for two years, so working in the built world only made sense).  It was a four year period that only can be accomplished by the very young.  I would often frame houses all day, then hang out at some club until midnight plying my humor trade.  The miracle was that I could go to bed at 1:00 and be on the job-site with my tool bags on by seven.  This would kill me today.

As things work out, all of this work has paid off in wonderful ways.  I combine vast knowledge of the built world with a penchant for chatting to provide you with an abundance of creative personal experience.

Add to the mix my years of working with my first wife (who is still an area Realtor, also) as an investor/builder and the rigorous training and coaching provided by Keller Williams, and I think that you will enjoy a unique, professional, and eye-opening real estate experience.

Family

I am married with four children.  Two of these children are from my first marriage, and the younger two children are from my wife's first marriage.  It is a modern day Brady Bunch with cats, dogs, fish, and fodder for another situation comedy.

My wife is a writer, artist, and teacher of children's yoga.  Our children attend Boulder Fairview, Southern Hills Middle School and Creekside Elementary.   I wake up early in the morning and happily drive to my office at Keller Williams.  All of these little mouths to feed and big brains to send off to college are fine motivators, indeed.

Native

I don't have one of those stickers on the back of my car, nor do I have a "Pioneer" license plate.  I only mention to you that I was born and raised here because the extensive knowledge that I have of neighborhoods all across the front range has value to you.

If you are Selling, Buying, or Investing, I think that you will have a very difficult time finding any individual broker that can bring such a broad palette of experience to apply to your needs.

I look forward to working with you
